Abstract: The thylakoid bioassay is used to determine the effect of herbicides in water. To avoid isolation for each bioassay, lyophylisation of thylakoids for continuous, reproducible supply as bioassay material, is described. This technique maintains the photosynthetical activity after lyophilisation at 82% plus/minus 9% (n = 5) of its original level.
