Abstract: An analytical method based on gas-chromatography-mass-spectral analysis was developed as a fast screeniing tool to verify the authenticity of extracts from different Echinacea roots (Echinacea Angustifolia, Chinacea Pallida, Chinacea Purpurea). Various extraction methods, i.e., soxhlet extraction, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and maceration with three different solvents, were applied and the extracts were analysed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
