|Abstract:||There is a need to support food control in the EU and to ensure that the practical tools for implementing regulations are available to control laboratories in all Member States. The necessary 'tools of the trade' are validated methods, analytical standards and mutually recognised approaches to analytical quality assurance. Today, European regulations are frequently implemented without the necessary practical measures being available to enable effective enforcement. It is essential to devote adequate financial and scientific resources to remedy this situation.|
