Abstract: Soil patterns of the mountain Sasso del Ferro situated near Alps border in northern Italy, were investigated in the frame of elaboration of methodological approaches for large-scale soil mapping. The geography of soils of the region is mainly depended on specific of surface deposits, as well as on a history of relief development. It is especially noted the presence of red-colored soils, which are not specific for the region.
