Abstract: IN THE LABORATORY OF H. WOLLENBERG AT THE HAHN-MEITNER INSTITUT IN BERLIN, MEASUREMENTS OF RADIATION ENHANCED DIFFUSION WERE PERFORMED ON THIN FOILS OF ALPHA BRASS AND THE DIFFUSION RATES OBTAINED WERE MUCH LARGER THAN THOSE OBTAINED ON THICKER FOILS IN OUR LABORATORY, UNDER COMPARABLE IRRADIATION CONDITIONS. THE VALIDITY OF OUR EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AND OF OUR INTERPRETATION OF THEM WAS REJECTED WITH THE IMPUTATION THAT OUR DATA WERE OBTAINED ON VERY IMPURE MATERIALS WHICH, HOWEVER, ON THE CONTRARY, WERE OF SIMILAR PURITY AS THOSE USED IN BERLIN. IN THE FOLLOWING WE WILL SHOW THAT THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS OBTAINED IN BOTH LABORATORIES COULD BE VALID AND EXPLAINED ON THE BASIS OF OUR RADIATION DAMAGE MODEL. THE PARAMETERS AND THE RATE EQUATIONS USED IN REFERENCE /1/ FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF THEIR RESULTS AND TO DISCREDITE OUR EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND OUR EXPLANATIONS, WERE SIMPLY WRONG.
