Abstract: THE DOSIMETRY ORGANISATION EURADOS-CENDOS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES JOINT RESEARCH CENTRE AND THE CENTRAL ELECTRICITY GEMERATIMG BOARD OF ENGLAND AND WALES ORGANISED A WORKSHOP ON THE APPLICATION OF TLD TO LARGE-SCALE INDIVIDUAL MONITORING, WHICH WAS JELD AT ISPRA, ITALY, ON 11-13 SEPTEMBER 1985. IT WAS SPON- SORED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES, DIRECTORATE GENE- RAL FOR SCIENCE, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (RADIATION PROTECTION PRO- GRAMME). THE WORKSHOP WAS HELD FOR THE BENEFIT OF THOSE ACTUALLY IN- VOLVED IN THE LARGE-SCALE AUTOMATIC TLD SYSTEMS. IT WAS ORGANISED A- ROUND THREE OVERALL THEMES SUBDIVIDED INTO 13 SUBJECTS: EXTERNAL CON- STRAINTS-USER REQUIREMENTS, QUANTITIES AND UNITS, LEGAL REQUIREMENTS, TESTING, INTERCOMPARISONS, DOSIMETRY SYSTEMS-MATERIALS, DOSEMETER DESIGN, READING SYSTEMS, ANNEALING PROCEDURES, ROGUE READINGS, MANAGEMENT- DISTRIBUTION AND ORGANISATION, REPORTING AND RECORD-KEEPING, FINANCIAL ASPECTS. INDIVIDUALS WITH PARTICULAR EXPERTISE IN EACH AREA GAVE INTRO- DUCTORY REMARKS WHICH LED INTO DISCUSSION SESSIONS. IN ORDER TO ENCOURAGE FRANK AND OPEN DISCUSSION IT WAS DECIDED THAT THE MEETING SHOULD BE RE- PORTED BY RAPPORTEURS RATHER THAN BY THE PUBLICATION OF FORMAL PRESEN- TATIONS FROM DELEGATES. EDITED RAPPORTEUR REPORTS ARE ACCORDINGLY ALL INCLUDED IN THIS PUBLICATION, WHICH CONTAINS ALSO 5 TABLES AND ONE FIGURE
