Abstract: THIS REPORT PRESENTS THE TECHNICAL STATUS OF THE SUPER-SARA PROJECT AT THE TIME OF ITS CLOSURE, FOLLOWING THE COUNCIL DECISION OF MARCH 10, 1983. THE SUPER-SARA TEST PROGRAMME IS AN IN-PILE INVESTIGATION INTO THE BEHAVIOUR OF LWR FUEL ASSEMBLIES DURING A WIDE VARIETY OF ACCIDENT CONDITIONS. THE AIM OF THIS REPORT IS TO GIVE A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES WHICH WERE CARRIED ON TO IMPLEMENT THE EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAMME AND TO ILLUSTRATE SOME IMPORTANT ACHIEVEMENTS REACHED IN SPECIFIC AREAS. IN ADDITION, IT IS ALSO INTENDED TO PROVIDE THE ACCESS KEY TO THE DOCUMENTATION WHICH WAS PRODUCED, SO AS TO MAKE THE MOST SIGNIFICANT TECHNICAL MATERIAL EASILY AVAILABLE FOR ANY POSSIBLE FUTURE USE. THE MAIN CHAPTERS OF THE REPORT REFLECT ESSENTIALLY THE SUBDIVISION OF THE TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES WHICH WERE USED AS THE BASIS FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF THE PROJECT. THE SUBDIVISION IDENTIFIED BROAD AREAS OF ACTIVITIES WHICH TOGETHER CONSTITUTE THE OVERLL SUPER-SARA PROJECT.
