Abstract: THE AIM OF THE STUDY IS TO VERIFY THE POSSIBILITY OF OBTAINING HYDROGEN IN EUROPE AT COSTS EQUAL OR LOWER THAN PRESENT EUROPEAN COSTS (H2 BY ELECTROLYSIS). THE STUDY ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION ON THE ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES RELATED TO THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES (DUE TO THE DIFFERENT PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS) OF THE TWO CHEMICAL HYDROGEN CARRYING SUBSTANCES CONSIDERED.
