|Abstract:||The support activities within the European Commission (EC) DG Joint Research Centre (JRC) during the Prestige accident are described. The basics of the methodology used to process and interpret the satellite images are introduced. Results showing the most relevant image interpretations illustrate the use of space-borne imagery in an emergency phase. Some example image interpretations are validated with results from visual inspections concurrently on the spot.|
