|Abstract:||The performance of CPV systems, due to the optical properties of the concentrators, depends on the solar brightness distribution including a portion of the circumsolar region. The exact degree to which CPV systems are dependent on specific atmospheric condition (i.e. direct/diffuse ratio) is not accurately known. Currently, to design an optimized optics for concentrators, a reasonable site-dependent statistical sunshapes database must be used. This is not only time consuming but also expensive to create, and there is little confidence the resulting design will prove optimal in other locations. The goal of the work is a sunshape prediction model that adequately replicates the real solar distribution.|
