The resulting spatio-temporal distribution of soil moisture has been analysed in order to derive a basis from which future drought situations can be detected and forecasted. Soil moisture patterns in Europe have been compared to independent surface wetness and top-soil soil moisture estimates derived from remote sensing. Information on soil moisture drought will become an integral part of a future European Drought Alert System. }, title = {Towards Drought Simulation on the European Scale: Experiences with ERA40-driven LISFLOOD Modelling Results}, url = {}, volume = {}, number = {}, journal = {}, pages = {215 - 224}, issn = {}, publisher = {ARID Cluster}, doi = {} }
