Abstract: The African Drought Observatory (ADO) has been developed based on the experience of the European Drought Observatory (EDO) and on several tested drought products. The Map Viewer makes available drought-relevant information provided as maps of drought indicators derived from different data sources (e.g., precipitation data, satellite measurements, meteorological variables and socio-economic indicators). The products derived from these data sources are made freely available through a web-based Map Viewer and are a complementary source of information for stakeholders that would like to use them to monitor and forecast droughts in Africa as well as to understand which areas are more vulnerable to drought.
