Abstract: The importance of wealth increased in the last decades, as well as households' indebtedness, while wealth inequality was increasing in many rich countries. The article discusses the cross-country and over-time drivers of wealth inequality and its link with income. The contribution of the paper is to give a preliminary view of the impact of the crisis on previous inequality patterns.
