Abstract: This work is an overview of non-destructive methods enabling nuclear safeguards inspectors to timely verify the Pu balance in nuclear fuel reprocessing. These methods are equally applied to samples from reprocessing plants and from mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel plants either on-site or in dedicated analytical laboratories. Here we focus on hybrid K-edge densitometry, neutron coincidence counting, calorimetry, and gamma spectrometry.
