Radiochemical separation of 224Ra from 232U or 228Th sources for 224Ra/212Pb/212Bi generator
The use of short-lived radionuclides in nuclear medicine has grown considerably and has led to the development of radionuclide generators that serve as convenient sources of their production. The 212Pb and 212Bi are short-lived α-emitters that are interested from the targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) point of view. The purpose of the present work was to develop a simple dynamic generator for rapid milking of carrier-free 224Ra from 232U or 228Th sources with a high decontamination factor; and further milking of 212Pb and its daughter 212Bi from the separated 224Ra.
