ReCaREDD project: Workshops on 'Tools and Methods for Monitoring Deforestation and Forest Degradation by Remote Sensing' - Phnom Penh, Vientiane and Hanoi 2016
This report summarizes contents and outputs of three national workshops on ‘Tools and Methods for Monitoring Deforestation and Forest Degradation by Remote Sensing’, organized in 2016 in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The main objective of the workshops was to improve the technical capabilities of ReCaREDD partner institutions in monitoring forest change from satellite remote sensing, addressing particularly processes of forest degradation. The workshops consisted of (i) an introduction to SENTINEL-2 imagery, (ii) intense training on the JRC IMPACT software tool for satellite image processing and monitoring of land cover change, and (iii) practical sessions on potential approaches for monitoring forest degradation.
