On the effectiveness of textile reinforced mortars for retrofitting of masonry arches
Preliminary results of an experimental programme on the response of masonry arches strengthened with textile reinforced mortar (TRM) are presented in this work. The objective of this experimental study is to examine the effectiveness of TRM strengthening system through a set of experimental tests on three half-scaled circular masonry arches strengthened at their intrados with TRM composite, under static monotonic load. The influence of the textile material and the amount of textile reinforcement applied at the intrados of the arch on the overall performance and the failure modes of masonry arches is investigated. Evaluation of the results highlights the improved strength obtained by means of TRM strengthening. The different mechanical behaviour pertinent to its case is also discussed
