Abstract: A wide range of interactions occurs between wild fisheries and aquaculture. These interactions can be classified as technical, environmental and market (or economic). The objective of this publication is to identify market competition interactions between wild fisheries and aquaculture and to analyse their consequences through a survey of the existing relevant literature. Most studies on competition interactions between aquaculture and wild fish are based on a reduced number of species and markets. Studies have mostly focused on the most-traded species (salmon and trout, shrimp and prawn, catfish and tilapia, and seabass and seabream) and the main consumer markets (United States of America and European Union [Member Organization]). Owing to the low number of studies in the literature and the diversity of results reported, findings can only be generalized with caution.
