Abstract: The effectiveness of the textile reinforced mortar (TRM) strenghtening technique on clay brick masonry arches is investigated. Eight half-scaled specimens were subjected to static monotonic loading applied at the quarter length of the span until failure. Experimental parameters comprised the number of TRM layers, the textile fibre material, and the strengthening layout, i.e., application in either the intrados or the extrados. The experimental results are discussed in terms of the resulting failure mechanisms and conclusions are drawn with regards to the strength and deformability achieved through each strengthening strategy.
