Advances in the application of Raman spectroscopy in the nuclear field
Recent advances in use of RAMAN spectroscopy in the field of nuclear fuel material opened the way to innovative applications. Especially the development of small shielded confinement enables the use of standard Raman spectrometers and all there flexibility for the analysis of highly radioactive samples. Some recent applications are reported: the measurement of new features in the Raman spectrum of actinides oxides, the plutonium mapping MOX fuel, the detection of plutonium oxide precipitation in nuclear waste glass and Raman analysis of Chernobyl.
