European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer — Manual for Breast Cancer Services — European quality assurance scheme for breast cancer services
The European quality assurance scheme is a collection of requirements based on evidence that can be followed by any breast cancer service wishing to improve the quality of care offered to women.
The scheme is designed to be implemented on a voluntary basis. Auditors will check the requirements during on-site visits at the physical premises of a breast cancer service. Those services demonstrating to fulfil the requirements will be awarded with a certificate.
The requirements are listed and described in a manual that provides details on how the respective requirements have to be met (depending on the specific process concerned), and on the indicators to be used to verify quantitative requirements.
The Manual also specifies guidance on how compliance with a given requirement can be demonstrated by the breast cancer services.
