Selected countries’ data and indicators of trade in non-food, non-energy raw material commodities
Non-Food, Non-Energy Raw Materials (NFNERM) are vital for the economy and key to a green transition. Securing access to raw materials is one of the pillars of the EU strategy. Ensuring their sustainable sourcing requires, among other things, diversified and reliable trade relationships with global raw materials providers.
This report aims to highlight the main trade patterns and trade polices of a selection of countries that are relevant NFNERM trade partners for the EU: Australia, Chile, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Ukraine and USA. It serves to expand and/or update a series of trade-related country fiches in the Raw Materials Information System’s Economics & Trade module (https://rmis.jrc.ec.europa.eu/).
The data and indicators employed highlight both the geographical and product structure of these countries' NFNERM trade, and points to the most relevant NFNERM in their relationship with the EU. A summary of the trade measures and investment outlook linked to raw materials complements the trade patterns analysis.
