JRC MARS Bulletin - Crop monitoring in Europe - February 2022 - Vol. 30 No 2
Drought has started to affect crops in south-western regions
Winter crops and grasslands in most parts of Europe are in good condition. Large regions in central and western Europe present a distinct rain deficit, but negative impacts on crops and grasslands have been limited so far. However, the persistent rain deficit in southern and south-western Mediterranean regions has led to a drought situation. According to the current weather forecast, drier-than-usual conditions are likely to continue to prevail in the coming months in these regions, with potentially negative effects on yields.
