SME Performance Review 2022
Methodological Note on Nowcasting and Forecasting
This document is intended to give an overview of the data sources and methodologies used to compile the dataset on structural SME indicators of the SME Performance Review commissioned by the European Commission (DG GROW) and conducted by Unit I.1 of JRC-COIN.
The goals of the review are to compile a historical database from 2008 to 2019, derive now-casts for the years 2020 and 2021 (if official data are not yet available for 2020), and generate forecasts for the years 2021 and 2022 of the following core indicators (Eurostat variable codes in parenthesis ):
• Number of enterprises (V11110)
• Number of persons employed (V16110)
• Value added at factor costs (V12150)
