Abstract: Irradiation tests of the transmutation of the fission products technetium and iodine have been performed in the HFR at Petten. Samples of Tc metal (Tc-99) and of three different metal iodides (cerium triiodide, sodium iodide and lead diiodide, containing the stable I-127 isotope) have been irradiated during 8 reactor cycles (192.95 full power days). Post-irradiation examination has been performed to measure the transmutation rate and to investigate the material behaviour during irradiation.
