JRC MARS Bulletin - Crop monitoring in Europe - September 2024 Vol. 32 No 9
Worsened outlook in central and eastern Europe
While favourable weather conditions prevailed in western parts of Europe, very high temperatures in most of southern-central and eastern Europe negatively impacted biomass accumulation and shortened the grain-filling period of summer crops. As a result, the yield forecasts for grain maize and sunflowers were revised downwards at EU level, whereas the forecasts for sugar beet, potatoes and grain maize were revised slightly upwards.
