Science, creativity and foresight through the eyes of the youngest generation
This art catalogue features the imaginative drawings of children from European schools imagining the future of science and the need for laboratories. The creative and interdisciplinary drawings reflect children's concerns about pressing issues such as climate change, pollution and healthcare, as well as their innovative ideas for addressing these challenges. In fact, children provide inspiring solutions to current and future challenges, reflecting their awareness of the problems and the need for action. The Joint Research Centre (JRC) intends to reflect on whether its research priorities are aligned with children's ideas and analysis, emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary work and the role of laboratories in solving future problems. The children's drawings were linked to JRC laboratories and portfolios and inspire JRC scientists who are researching novel technologies and solutions. The publication also highlights the JRC's current work in areas such as environmental biotechnology, healthy biodiversity, and sustainable food systems, among others. The drawings act as an inspiration to JRC scientists and serve as a reminder that their research efforts aim to create a better planet for future generations.
