Determination of seven coccidiostats in two poultry feeds
Report of the proficiency test FAC-23/01
Implementation of the European legislation on feed additives (FA) requires the monitoring of their presence in feed through analytical tests, conducted by laboratories designated for official controls by the EU Member States. To ensure these control laboratories perform uniformly and reliably, the European Union Reference Laboratory for Feed Additives ‘Control’ (EURL-FA Control) organises proficiency tests (PTs) in line with Regulation (EU) 2017/625 on official controls. This report summarises the results of the PT “FAC-23/01” aiming at the determination of seven coccidiostats in poultry feeds. Two test items - consisting of a mixed grain feed for poultry and a compound feed for poultry - were spiked with a mixture of coccidiostats and dispatched for analyses. Participants in this PT included 18 National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) from 16 EU Member States, and 8 EU Official Control Laboratories (OCLs). The evaluation of the analytical performance confirms that the capability of the participating NRLs and OCLs to monitor coccidiostats at the authorised level or at the cross-contamination levels set by the European legislation for these additives in feedingstuffs is satisfactory.
