Certification of the taxon Pollachius pollachius (pollack) in fish powder: EURM®-021
EURM-021 is a fish tissue material certified for the taxon, the fish species Pollachius pollachius (Pollack), produced in accordance with ISO 17034:2016. The material was produced from one fillet originating from a single fish, which was diced, freeze-dried and milled. EURM-021 is available in glass vials containing at least 200 mg of fish powder.
Between-unit homogeneity and stability during transport and storage were assessed in accordance with ISO 33405:2024.
The material was characterised by comparison of measurement results from two different mitochondrial DNA based methods, the cytochrome b gene (cytb) and the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (COI), obtained by two laboratories each, adhering to ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The uncertainty for the certified value is negligible.
The intended use of this material is to assess method performance, i.e. for checking accuracy of measurement results or for validation of DNA based methods used for the identification of the fish species Pollachius pollachius.
