Migration testing of elements from ceramic and enameled bakeware
A test method was developed for bakeware made of ceramics and other vitreous materials, as an alternative to the testing method specified in legislation. The method provided a reliable assessment of exposure to elements migrating from the bakeware into food on cooking. Tests on numerous bakeware articles were made by both the new and legislative methods, to allow comparison of performance and thereby the risk of prepared food containing excess elements over human recommended daily intakes.
