JRC Makers-in-Residence Programme - Drawing as Talking: Exploring the use of co-creation in interdisciplinary exchange
This report documents my process of developing workshops using drawing as a collaborative, communicative medium while serving as Maker-in-Residence at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). Over the course of my 10 working-day residency I delivered 6 “pop-up” workshops, 3 formal workshops within the JRC Makerspace, and 1 inter-resident session. In total, over 90 people engaged with my activities, whose backgrounds ranged from external abseiling engineers, nuclear non-proliferation researchers, doctoral candidates in toxicology, to social scientists. They hailed from almost every Member State of the EU, as well as England, Scotland, Costa Rica and Israel. This report sets out that process, and my development of a general structure for delivering successful drawing workshops.
