Over the past 15 years, the European Union’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE) Initiative has evolved into the world’s largest platform for international cooperation on CBRN safety and security. Operating in 63 Partner Countries across eight regions, the Initiative fosters long-term, country-led risk mitigation through a unique model of partnership that connects national, regional and international actors. This anniversary booklet highlights the tangible results of that cooperation, from strengthened laws and institutions to rapid crisis response and cross-border coordination. Through more than 100 targeted projects and thousands of trained professionals, the Initiative has helped countries respond to natural outbreaks, manage accidents, and prevent the malicious use of CBRN materials. Its success stories — spanning biosecurity, emergency response, forensic investigation and beyond — reflect how sustained, inclusive collaboration has built lasting capacity and advanced global resilience.
