Increasing female labour supply: a RHOMOLO analysis
Territorial Development Insights Series
Reducing gender disparities in the labour mar-ket is crucial for promoting inclusive and sus-tainable economic growth. The economic literature suggests that increas-ing female labour market participation can boost GDP through increased productivity re-sulting from gender diversity. This Insight uses the RHOMOLO model to pre-sent the impact of increasing female labour supply on GDP, employment and real wages. The simulations suggest that GDP and total employment could benefit from an increased female labour participation. However, there may be adverse effects on female wages and unemployment rates.
