April 2026 update
→ The European Commission’s Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity (KCBD) maintains and develops a dashboard of indicators to track progress towards the targets set in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 (EU BDS)
→ The EU BDS dashboard is publicly accessible through the KCBD website1 under “Tools”.
→ All published indicators have been updated with the latest available data and metadata since the latest EUBP-MA subgroup meetings (March and November 2025).
→ The EU BDS dashboard currently contains 19 indicators to monitor progress for 9 out of 16 EU BDS targets.
→ Three new candidate indicators are proposed for addition to the EU BDS dashboard:
(i) “Mean Target Achievement on land” for target 1,
(ii) “Potential pressure of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern on ecosystems” for target 12,(iii) “Environmental Status of European Seas” for target 15. The EUBP-MA is invited to give its feedback on these three indicators.
