Intake from expert groups to progress on good environmental status
Monitoring of non-indigenous species (NIS) introductions has commonalites across marine regions.
Data on sampling type and site, year of sampling, number sampling events per year, spatial reference to the marine reporting unit represent the minimum to understand survey effort and charactirse its spatial and temporal variation.
This data needs to be used to have more reliable estimates of NIS introductions.
Data on the sampling activities carried out as part of ongoing monitoring programme needs to be explicitly included in the reporting template of the Art 11 and standardised to meet the needs of the Marine Strategy assessment for NIS.
Coordination within and across marine regions is required.
