In the face of climate change and an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, Europe's clean industry transition has become a pressing imperative. The recognition of nuclear technologies as a component of the EU's carbonneutral future, as reflected in the EU Taxonomy and the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA), has highlighted the critical need for a skilled and competent workforce in the nuclear sector. To meet this challenge, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is working to promote nuclear education and training, with a particular emphasis on developing expertise in nuclear safety, security, and safeguards. This JRC Nuclear Skills Catalogue is a key tool in this effort, offering a broad range of courses and programs designed to support professionals, institutions and national authorities in their work to ensure the safe and secure use of nuclear technologies. From introductory courses for students and young professionals to advanced training programs in areas such as nuclear crime scene investigation, operating experience, nuclear modelling and decommissioning, the catalogue reflects the JRC's commitment to fostering a highly skilled and knowledgeable workforce in the nuclear sector.
