This is a user guide for INFORM Warning is a global early-warning system that helps organisations understand where and how crisis risks are likely to increase over the next 1–12 months. It brings together trusted forecasts and recent trends across natural hazards, conflict, socio-economic vulnerability and exposed populations, and translates them into simple, comparable warning levels and alerts. What makes INFORM Warning different is its ability to combine multiple sources of forward-looking information into a single, consistent view of emerging risk that is comparable across countries and crisis types and updated regularly.
INFORM Warning is designed to support a wide range of decisions. It can be used to highlight emerging risks and strengthen advocacy for early action; to prioritise countries and contexts for funding, programming or engagement; and to inform planning through scenario development, contingency planning and the design of anticipatory action triggers. It also provides a transparent and structured evidence base for analysis, helping users understand not only where risks are increasing, but why and what may happen next. The outputs can be used directly through the platform or integrated into existing tools, processes and decision-making frameworks at global, regional and country levels.
By making future risk more visible, comparable and actionable, INFORM Warning aims to support earlier, more confident decisions, better targeting of resources and stronger coordination across organisations — ultimately helping to reduce the impact of crises on vulnerable populations.
