‣ Geospatial data layers based on micro-data from millions of farms from the Integrated Farm Statistics (IFS) Farm Structure Survey (FSS) census were released to improve the granularity and availability of agriculture and farm management information across the European Union (EU) .
‣ This relied on a new methodology for statistical data disclosure control that protects data privacy and confidentiality, and maximizes information content at the highest spatial resolution
‣ Overcoming interoperability barriers stimulates uptake and re-use of these geospatial layers for locally relevant insights on land use, livestock, rural development, farming practices, farm structure, subsidies, and labor inputs, that are feeding new EU-wide assessments, modelling, and policy analysis
‣ These spatial statistical maps provide a much-needed granular view on land management in the EU that can enhance the evaluation, coherency, and targeting of EU, national, and regional policies on agriculture, nature, and climate
