Abstract: | During the development of an analytical procedure aimed to assess the PCB concentration and the concentration of 8 organochlorinated pesticides in the sediments of an Italian artificial drinking water reservoir it was found that some high-boiling co-extractives withstanding the clean-up step interfered with the gas-chromatographic quantification of the contaminants by lowering the peak resolution and by rapidly and irreversibly damaging the fused-silica capillary column. |
