Following the discussion of the available experimental techniques for the dynamic testing of structures provided in a companion paper, the key features of the pseudodynamic test method are described. The activities conducted at the European Laboratory for Structural Assessment for the commissioning and improvement of the method are presented. This includes comparative - dynamic and pseudodynamic - experiments, and experiments conducted with differing time-integration algorithms. The effectiveness of the implicit algorithms for the pseudodynamic testing with substructuring is demonstrated.
