Renewable Energy Sources and Requirements Needed to Substitute One Million Tons of CO2 Atmospheric Emissions in Europe.

cover
The present paper considers the energy basis of the transformation of CO2 waste and hydrogen into methanol. The energy requirements have been estimated for a situation which will stabilise atmospheric CO2 (-355ppmv) at present leves. For this purpose the annual pCO2 increments for the European Union and World are considered proportional for the foreseen energy production growth. This annual groth rate is transformed into a carbon emission equivalen and thus to an energy requirement for methanol production, either directly for use as a fuel (environmentally CO2 neutral), or as transport vector for H2 (clean secondary energy source) and CO2 oceanic disposal.
