Gestire l'Ambiente Urbano.
This paper describes the development of a methodological approach to the application of geographical information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) imagery to urban environmental management. The methodology has been worked out on a specific European urban environment (Florence, I) and on a specific prototype end user of the municipality administration. The end-user-oriented approach to the development of the application and its methodology are analysed from the investigation on existing data to the complete GIS application, which has been judged as very useful by the prototype end user.
