Magnetic Excitations in NpBi.
We report inealstic neutron scattering measurements on a single crystal of NpBi. The magnetic excitation spectrum consists of two branches with longitudinal and transverse polarisation, resp. The excitations are interpreted as spin waves in an antiferromagnetic triple-k type-I structure. With increasing temperature, the anisotropy gap decreases monotonously and disappears at TN. As the ordered magnetic moment in NpBi has the free ion Np3+ moment value, the anisotropy gap cannot originate from crystal electric field interactions, and the tripe-k structure of NpBi is anticipated to be stabilized by two-ion quadrupolar terms.
