In the shelf area of the north-western Black Sea, samples were collected over the water column using 1) manual collection from a rubber boat for the Danube mouth area, 2) pumping for the shallow waters of the shelf and 3) GoFlo bottles for the shelf break area. Samples were filtered under nitrogen flux inside a clean container (class 100, US norm).
