In recent years the global significance of vegetation fires, a phenomenon which is spread in all the world ecosystem and in particular in the Tropics, has received a major interest within the research community. Space observations from satellite has greatly contributed to enhance the awareness of the importance of the phenomenon and the role of the biomass burning problem, and becomes the ideal tool to gove information on such phenomenon, at scales never explored before.
