BCR Referenzmaterialien: Herstellung und Verwendung.

The article gives an overview on the activities of IRMM and the Standards, Measurement and Testing Program and addresses the current guidelines for the production of BCR reference materials as well as the need to use certified reference materials. The guidelines are subject of steady changes and are adapted to the properties of new materials, of which the preparation becomes more and more difficult, and to updated statistical models. Some statistical aspects concerning the use of reference materials will be discussed and brief reference will be made to new statistical approaches.
