|Abstract:||The analysis o fnuclear material plays a key role in safeguarding these materials. The Institute for Transuranium Elements has been involved in analytical safeguards work, hence development and measurements, for twenty years. Recent activities focus on analytical concepts and measurements for safeguarding large reprocessing plants, on environmental measurements, on nuclear forensic analysis and on international co-operation. Examples will be given, illustrating how new challenges can be met by an analytical laboratory; from concepts to developments to (routine) application. Particular emphasis will be given to analytical approaches that increase the efficiency of the laboratory in terms of quality and quantity.|
