SAMO '98
The Second International Symposium on Sensitivity Analysis of Model Output, SAMO98, was held in Venice from 19 April to 22 April. It was well attended by approximately 120 participants from 22 Countries.
The conference, opened by Prof. Maurizio Ruspoli, Rector of the University of Venice, included a day of tutorials on Sunday, 13 thematic sessions and two poster sessions. Fifty-seven oral presentations, including 21 invited lectures, were given at the conference covering the following topics:
. Local Methods and the Inverse Problem
. Variance based methods
. Exploring Sensitivity to Models and Model Structures
. Sensitivity Analysis for Calibration
. Networks
. Bayesian Methods
. Sensitivity Analysis in Performance Assessment
. Applications to Econometrics
. Knowledge, Judgement and the Use of Models
. Sensitivity Analysis for Environmental Modelling and Assessment
. Innovative Approaches
. Robustness and Reliability of Sensitivity Analysis
. Design for Sensitivity Analysis: Generating the right sample
As in the previous event, held in Belgirate (Italy) in 1995, SAMO did not have parallel sessions, for which several participants expressed their appreciation. In spite of the good weather and of the tempting Venetian surroundings, the session registered a steady attendance.
