Abstract: The microstructures of four 94, 85, and 71 mal % alfa-Fe03-Sao2 samples prepared by mechanical allying have been studied by x-ray diffraction with Rietveld structure refinements. The alfa-(FerichSn)2O3 solid solutions with higher Sao2 contents in the immiscible ceramic system have been synthesized by mechanical alloying, On the basis of the structure refinements to the whole x-ray diffraction patterns for the four as-milled samples, it is found that tin ions do not substitute iron ions in the solid solutions, although this model is generally assumed in literature.
