A new European Commission initiative on Optimisation of Maintenance in Nuclear Power Plants

The EC has recently created a new Network, called "Safety of Eastern European Type Nuclear Facilities" (SENUF). At present the main focus of SENUF is the nuclear power plant maintenance as substantial element of plant operational safety as well as life management. A Working Gorup has been estabslihed on plant maintenance. A status report on advanced strategies to optimise maintenance is under preparation and shall be finalised early 2005. A database is also under development, which intents to help sharing the available knowledge and specific equipment and tools. The work plan will be extended in 2005 on Reliability Centred Maintenance and Risk-Informed approaches. The paper will present the status on the ongoing tasks and perspectives for the coming years.
